CELEBRATING LITTLE VICTORIES THAT = BIG WINS FOR THE PLANET

Beyond The Bag

We kicked off 2021 with a major moment in February when ChicoBag was named one of the eight winners for the Beyond the Bag Challenge. This reusable bag challenge was initiated by some mega corporations who are trying to find alternatives to single use plastic bags.

Here's Our Winning Idea:

At store checkouts, customers can borrow a high-quality reusable bag at retail checkout if they forget theirs. They have the option to return and/or earn rewards during the bag’s use as part of the sharing economy. Reusable bags will be an option for online orders that are prepared for pick-up, especially relevant now in the age of COVID.

We’re thrilled to see major corporations like Target, CVS, Walmart, and more who are spearheading this initiative and banding together with us and other sustainable companies to tackle the single-use plastic bag problem. (And did we mention that we got to ring the New York Stock Exchange’sThe Closing Bell® with the other winners!

ChicoBag vs. Single Use Waste

Our fight didn’t stop after the NYSE bell sounded. Here are some more hits from 2021…

In August we kicked off our pilot program withthe Center for the Circular Economy at Closed Loop Partners’ Beyond the Bag Challenge.

Being a B1C. (What’s a B1C, you ask?) It means we’re a company certified by B-Corporation, 1% For the Planet, and Climate Neutral. It’s the triple crown of sustainable certification standards, and a challenge only very few companies are able to keep up with.

Customers took the opportunity to lessen our footprint by shipping by boat instead of air, which has the most carbon emissions per ton mile.

Continued to make ethical manufacturing a priority even with Supply and demand issues. We hold ourselves accountable to higher standards in both labor and manufacturing and will continue to do so for our customers in 2022.

Zero-Waste Program wins! A partnership with Martha’s Kitchen in San Jose, CA, and donated over 8,000 pre-loved bags towards their cause. We also celebrated a partnership with Clever Octopus in Salt Lake City, Utah. ChicoBag sent over 2000 misprint and misfit bags to them in the beginning of 2021.

We can't wait to see what 2022 brings! Our customers, clients, partners, and our community inspires us to keep doing a little bit better. With that in mind, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to us with your sustainable suggestions for 2022.
